Carbon Fiber Version-R Spoiler Blade

Carbon Fiber Version-R Spoiler Blade

So what is Carbon Fiber?

Carbon-fiber-reinforced polymercarbon-fiber-reinforced plastic or carbon-fiber reinforced thermoplastic (CFRPCRPCFRTP or often simply carbon fiber, or even carbon), is an extremely strong and light fiber-reinforced polymer which contains carbon fibers.
The binding polymer is often a thermoset resin such as epoxy, but other thermoset or thermoplastic polymers, such as polyestervinyl ester ornylon, are sometimes used. The composite may contain other fibers, such as aramid e.g. Kevlar, Twaron, aluminium, or glass fibers, as well as carbon fiber. The properties of the final CFRP product can also be affected by the type of additives introduced to the binding matrix (the resin). The most frequent additive is silica, but other additives such as rubber and carbon nanotubes can be used. (Source:Wikipedia)

After the FTO respray and gathering all my parts, it was time to get dead serious...Im a fanatic for carbon fiber. Its just one of the best materials ever made.

15-Piece Carbon Panel

JDMing Update:

All the way from Japan, i treated my FTO to some very rare carbon panel pieces produced in Japan. They are not real carbon fiber but a carbon Tone.

Carbon Tone Panels 15-piece set                                 - 2 x Power window switch 2 point                              - 2 x A-Pillar panel points                                           - Upper center console                                               - Lower center console                                                - Steering column                                                      - Side view mirrior triangular part inside and outside 4 points                                                                         - Cyberstork Carbon Dial Surround

Other similar options you can consider:

Hydrographic carbon - this effect is the use of hydrographic film and activator to achieve a carbon pattern effect.

Carbon Water Transfer Printing. This method is similar to the hydrographic technique, carbon dipped to give the carbon pattern and shine. Probably the closest look to carbon fiber.

3-M Carbon Wrap - Adhesive carbon film used to wrap interior or exterior parts to give the carbon fiber effect. Probably the best value for money option as opposed to the above options. Widely available through distributors, retail shops and ebay.

Carbon Fibre Wrap (Di-Noc 3M)

JDMing Update:

My ever first recognition and impression of 3M Carbon Fibre wrap was from a Japanese FTO website, where the person wrapped the bottom lower centre console with it. It looked absolutely stunning and real too. Till recently when 3M wrapping became more common in UK, i decided to give it ago myself.

During my trip to Hong Kong back in April 2011 i went to an automotive styling shop which sold the authentic famous Di-Noc 3M Carbon Fibre. When this was first introduced on the market i didnt get any due to the price. But now a days its reasonably priced and well worth it to give it that carbon look.

Example of Di-Noc 3M used.
